WHP 580 Legend Passes Away

(Fort Myers, FL - WHP) Long-time WHP 580 radio host Ron Drake has died.

Drake was a Harrisburg radio legend and a WHP 580 institution, with his morning show in the 60s and 70s.

Family members say Drake had been in declining health in recent years.

Drake passed away at a hospice in Fort Myers, Florida at the age of 86.

Snatching Your Purse...at Church

(York - WHP) York county police are searching for two men behind several church purse snatchings.

Police say they are white males with olive complexions, typically unshaven, and wearing green military jackets.

Police also believe they drove away in a dark SUV, with Maryland plates.

Lancaster County Firefighters Deal with Blaze, Weather

(Lancaster Twp. - WHP) 60 firefighters battled a blaze and bad weather Sunday morning in Lancaster Township.

Emergency crews responded to the fire that started in a garage on Bentley lane around 11 a.m.

One man was home at the time, but he was able to get out ok.

Crews say they were slowed by the treacherous drive on snowy roads.

York County Bank Robber in Custody

(Fawn Grove - WHP) A man who was wanted for the robbery of an M & T Bank in Fawn Grove has been found in Maryland.

Carl Rafferty was taken into custody after a traffic stop.

The robbery allegedly took place last Wednesday at the southern York County bank.

Thank You, Sir. You May NOT Have Another: No-Spanking Rules In For Schools

(Harrisburg - WHP) While it may have been out of practice at schools for sometime now, Pennsylvania's public schools have officially put a "no spanking" policy on the books.

Locally, Carlisle Area School District was among the schools where it was permitted, but there's no word when the last time the disciplinary practice was used.

Officials at Carlisle say they are in the process of removing the policy, while the new policy took effect Saturday.
